Love ( I )
Hi.. i thought its good to share some stuff i've read here.. So we have all seen or read this before i assumed
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres"
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Have we really think about what the verses actually means? In my opinion, i feel that the sentences are very simple but to 'understand' it & do it, its pretty hard for we humans. Dont you think so? So to truly love, we cant depend on our own effort alone. We'll find it difficult to maintain if we do it on our own, we'll feel tired.. and before you know it, everything just collapsed & you wonder 'where is the love?'
All along most people think of love as a feeling, i dont deny i have that concept too before i read Rick Warren's book (The power to change your life). Its true that love produces feelings, however love is more than feelings. Love is the first fruit of the Spirit.
What do we mean by fruit of the Spirit?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love ,joy ,peace ,patience ,kindness ,goodness ,faithfulness ,gentleness & self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23
However, the fruit of the Spirit isnt something we work out for. It's something God produces in us when we fully trust Him with our lives. (RW - TPTCYL pg 9)So now you know, why is it not easy for us to have the above characteristics.
I came across this article just now,it talks about 'envy'. Have you ever envy others?
'A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones'
Proverbs 14:30
quoted from the articles, it says ...'That experience taught me that love and envy cannot coexist in the human heart...'
'You cannot give total love when your heart is divided. And a bitter heart is a divided heart' (RW - TPTCYL pg 33)
How do we overcome envy?
Being committed to loving others is the secret to overcoming envy.
— Herbert Vander Lugt
From seeds of envy in the heart
Spring up the noxious weeds of hate;
So help me, Lord, to love the one
Whom I find hard to tolerate.
