do you have it?
Hello, its 0624 now. Was awake at 0500. Haha.Couldnt sleep further after mom tore off the 'medicated plaster on my temple' and knee.
Last night after dinner, i was suffering from some vision loss. Somehow as i looked at the screen, it appeared so bright and the vision for the sides are 'gone'. Its like a 'bright white spot' covering the sides of all the things i see. I was alittle worried as this is the second time i am experiencing this.
Not too long after, i met with a throbbing headache on both of my temples. Tried to rub some medicated oil and later on, the pain in the left temple hurts more while the other side slowly went off. The side effect comes alongside, my mouth felt stale and i felt nauseous. I went to stick a medicated plaster on my temple hoping for the pain to go off. It did help alittle though.I couldnt concentrate further staying awake, thus i went off to bed at a slightly early time at 2300,trying to sleep my pain away.
Suspecting that i may suffer from 'migraine', i went to do some research.
What is a migraine headache?
A migraine headache is characterized by intense pulsing or throbbing pain in one area of the head. It is often accompanied by extreme sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and vomiting.
What causes migraine headaches?
For many years, scientists believed that migraines were linked to the dilation and constriction of blood vessels in the head. Investigators now believe that migraine is caused by inherited abnormalities in genes that control the activities of certain cell populations in the brain.
What are some of the initial symptoms and triggers of a migraine headache?
Some individuals can predict the onset of a migraine because it is preceded by an "aura," visual disturbances that appear as flashing lights, zig-zag lines or a temporary loss of vision. People with migraine tend to have recurring attacks triggered by a lack of food or sleep, exposure to light, or hormonal irregularities (only in women). Anxiety, stress, or relaxation after stress can also be triggers.

There are said to be 4 phases of the migraine attack.
1) The prodrome (which occurs hours or days before the headache)
2) The aura (which immediately precedes the headache)
3) The pain phase (also known as headache phase)
4) The postdrome
----------------------------------------------------------
Prodrome phase (occurs in 40%-60% of migraineurs)
This phase may consist of altered mood, irritability, depression or euphoria, fatigue, yawning, excessive sleepiness, craving for certain food (e.g., chocolate), stiff muscles (especially in the neck), constipation or diarrhea, increased urination, and other vegetative symptoms
I've got the stiff muscles in the neck and also increased urination.
----------------------------------------------------------
Aura Phase
For the 20-30% of migraineurs who suffer migraine with aura, this aura comprises focal neurological phenomena that precede or accompany the attack. Symptoms of migraine aura can be visual, sensory, or motor in nature.
Visual aura is the most common of the neurological events. There is a disturbance of vision consisting usually of unformed flashes of white and/or black or rarely of multicolored lights (photopsia) or formations of dazzling zigzag lines
----------------------------------------------------------
Pain Phase
The typical migraine headache is unilateral, throbbing, moderate to severe and can be aggravated by physical activity.
Nausea occurs in almost 90 percent of patients, while vomiting occurs in about one third of patients. Many patients experience sensory hyperexcitability manifested by photophobia, phonophobia, osmophobia and seek a dark and quiet room.
----------------------------------------------------------
Postdrome
The patient may feel tired, "washed out", irritable, or listless and may have impaired concentration, scalp tenderness or mood changes. Some people feel unusually refreshed or euphoric after an attack, whereas others note depression and malaise.

The reasons why migraine occur varies. Lol, i guessed mine might be "Stress" ? Yesterday lecture was abit stressful ba. Gotta make full use of today to revise. Shall end here, take care people.
