The life-long lesson we shud never give up on

Hmm...lately... it just seemed like the quotes i read before started to make sense to me slowly each day.... u will slowly see the light as u grow older...

The word Humility started knockin on my doors recently... i thot about how "arrogant" i am sometimes.. U can hear "arrogance" in the speech..at that point of time.. u noe ur "arrogant" but how did u manage to brush off the thought instantly? Hmmm? Many times... i found "arrogance" in my speech.. although we are taught to be humble & respectful when we started schooling in primary school or kindergarten..it just appears that as we aged.. humility started to be fading from our dictionary.. no longer did we sound humble or acted humble all the times..ever wonder why? When we are arrogant.. we would tend to filter others opinion..we tink we noe everything..but have it ever occur to u that u might be losing sound opinions?

I admit that sometimes i do sound as if i noe everything, when the parents are advising me on certain stuffs....i always felt that im more knowledgeable.. but i cant deny the fact that sometimes..their life experiences are always better than my so called "knowledge" Well..here's a bible quote on humility..

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (KJV, Matthew 5:5-9)

Ever wonder how we started growing the roots of arrogance? Is it because of the lack of failures we suffer or is it too much of success that causes it to grow its roots? After the roots are grown,is it still easy to rid them off? I believe after the roots are grown.. people tends to see things superficially ... in other words.. they look things from the surface... wadever is hidden beneath..they dont bother too much anymore...coz they are somehow "blinded" by some invisible form of power. Being arrogant will lead u into becoming less apathy of others ... that talks about how you disregard the feelings of others & eventually hurt them with your actions or speech

here's another short story about "contentment" i got from http://www.higherpraise.com/illustrations/contentment.htm

Philip Parham tells the story of a rich industrialist who was disturbed to find a fisherman sitting lazily beside his boat. "Why aren't you out there fishing?" he asked.

"Because I've caught enough fish for today," said the fisherman.
"Why don't you catch more fish than you need?' the rich man asked.
"What would I do with them?"

"You could earn more money," came the impatient reply, "and buy a better boat so you could go deeper and catch more fish. You could purchase nylon nets, catch even more fish, and make more money. Soon you'd have a fleet of boats and be rich like me."

The fisherman asked, "Then what would I do?"
"You could sit down and enjoy life," said the industrialist.
"What do you think I'm doing now?" the fisherman replied as he looked placidly out to sea.
